Leaders make choices, not excuses

What’s your X?
What is the one thing you need to work on or work through to grow and empower your team, your business, or your life?
Whether it’s formalized or not, everyone I know is searching for something—something they want to be, something they want to do, or something they want to have.
At LXU, we call this something the X.
“X” is your personal something—and it is different for everyone.
Whatever your X, I want you to make a choice—right here, right now—to consciously envision it better and make a renewed commitment to do something about it—every week.
To move the needle on your X:
- See things as they are, not better or worse than they are. It’s easy to think things are better than they really are. It’s also easy to make excuses for why things are worse than they appear to be. We’ve all been trained to focus on lack and limitation. All the reasons why something happened or failed to happen doesn’t matter. See things as they are, not better or worse than they are.
- Envision things better than they are. The only thing standing between you and what you desire (your X) are the crazy stories you keep telling yourself as to why you (or your team) can’t achieve something. At some point, someone has to redirect everyone’s thoughts and attention to who you want to become—whether personally, as a team, or with the direction of your business. Why can’t that person be you? Envision things better than they are.
- Seek guidance to co-create something better. Too much is changing, too fast, for any leader to have all the answers. Unfortunately, many leaders think that it’s a weakness to ask for help. The false belief that “I have to do it myself” prevents progress. Here’s some advice: Swallow your pride and ask for help. Seeking support is a leadership strength. Besides, there is nothing more meaningful than emotionally engaging others to design the future. Seek guidance to co-create something better.
The leaders I know make choices, not excuses. Want help? Let’s schedule some time.
