My experience with high-performers is they have this deep desire to figure things out. Almost with an obsessive personality. I say that because I consider myself a high-performer.
Earlier in my career, I suffered a lot by thinking I had to solve everything myself. I am not proud that it took me so long to figure this out. The good news is I eventually did figure it out.
I now want to shorten your path.
Whatever important task or challenge you are navigating—don’t go it alone.
Stop trying to be a hero.
Help is always available—it’s a spiritual truth.
Learning to ask for help is an acquired skill.
Too many people think it’s a weakness to ask for help. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Asking for help is a strength.
The truth is, we never do anything on our own. And as leaders, we shouldn’t want to.
