Articulating a vision is vital when leading others. But having an idea in mind about what you want to accomplish is not enough. 

That idea must be shared. This is difficult for most leaders. Many worry about being criticized, or want to perfect the details of their vision before unveiling it to others. 

As a result, a lot of leaders miss a golden opportunity to jumpstart the new year.

My advice: Stop trying to refine everything in secrecy.
